MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the May 17 Township Board meeting, the Board determined that Towner Park Road met 5 out of the 10 essential criteria to be declared a wetland.

The Board discussed that by declaring the park as a wetland would not affect the development plan for Towner Road Park, and plans to improve the wetland to be a feature of the park.

Trustee Veenstra commented by saying, "Our wetland consultant looked at it and found that it met 5 of the 10 essential criteria for being an essential wetland so the recommendation was that we recognize it as an essential wetland."
