Okemos Girls Lacrosse Pushing For a Championship

Okemos Girls Lacrosse Pushing For a
Championship

OKEMOS - The Okemos girls lacrosse team has something to prove this season. Over the last three years on their road to the State finals, the girls have lost to East Grand Rapids. Twice in the semifinals and once in the State finals. The seniors say that EGR is on their radar this year when it comes to teams, but the goal of the program is to finally win a State Championship.

The team has something new up their sleeve this season, a new coach. Coach Brandon Schwind has coached all levels of lacrosse: high school, travel, and collegiate. In the past, he had only coached boys, but he is looking forward to coaching the highly skilled Okemos girls lacrosse team.

The Lady Chieftains fell to Grand Rapids Catholic 12 to 10 in the season opener Thursday, March 29, but the girls see this loss as a reason to keep pushing for more.
