American Legion Post 269 Sells Christmas
Trees

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - It seems like just yesterday, families across the nation were sharpening their knives and digging into their Thanksgiving Day turkey.

Now just a little over a week left until Christmas, holiday shopping is expected to be in full swing and so will another kind of shopping.

Christmas Tree Shopping.

The American Legion Post 269 in Haslett is selling Christmas Trees for $30 across the street from them on Haslett Road.

George Chippen, the current adjutant at the legion, says the organization is raising the money to give back to the community.

"Various charities, including the local food banks, school activities, there's a thing called boys and girls state... it's kind of a civics, leadership, kind of activity," Chippen said.

The legion began selling their trees on Black Friday, and Chippen says they've sold about 50 so far... but their goal is to sell out the entire lot.

Any of the trees left over will be donated to needy families.

The American Legion Post 269 is located at 1485 Haslett Road.
