St. Luke Lutheran Church Hosts Coat Drive

St. Luke Lutheran Church Hosts Coat
Drive

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - As the crisp, cool air approaches and we break out our Fall apparel...ensuring we have a warm jacket is essential during this time of year.

That is why St. Luke Lutheran Church decided to host a coat drive.

"The coat drive is to benefit our coat bank that we host every year. We give away coats to anyone that needs one and the last couple of years we have given away over 3,000 coats so this is to help replenish those coats," mentioned Director of Ministries Carolyn Fabro.

St. Luke's Church is accepting all types of coats but particularly kids coats, adult coats, plus size coats and anything new or gently used.

This is the 7th year St. Luke Lutheran Church has been in charge of the coat bank and it was deemed successful yet again. "We're making a push to get the St. Luke name out into the community and this is one way that we're trying to do that," stated Fabro.

Four separate locations participated in collecting coats for the community and all together Fabro mentioned that she had 35 to 40 individuals volunteering to assist throughout the day.

All donated coats will be taken to St. Luke's Lutheran Church for storage. Coats are distributed at a store front located at 1561 Haslett Road.

However, if individuals are interested in picking up a coat... it is preferred that they call the church at 517-339-9119 beforehand.
