MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Historical Village partnered with the Meridian Township Parks and Recreation Department and Friends of Historic Meridian to put together a pioneer historical Heritage Festival related to the 19th century and prior.

Visitors enjoyed early American demonstrations and exhibits in the Village as well as children's activities and games.

As one of the non-profit history preservation organizations of Meridian Township, Friends of Historic Meridian brings Meridian Township's past to life by holding the Heritage Festival annually.

At this year's event various of activities were offered, include: Civil war home-life re-enactments, cart and pony rides, loom weaving, rug making, antique toy truck, Irish dance, concerts by Gracewood, children's games etc.

"It is an important event for our community because they learned so much about our past. Often the children who comes to here have no idea that was the time when you don't have the convenience we have today," said Jane Rose, Executive Director of the Meridian Historical Village. "And there gives them an opportunity to see the different life style that their grand parent and great grand parents lived, and plus they have fun learning that."

2015 is the 17th year of the Meridian Heritage Festival. Many vendors and demonstrators from the festival has participated in this annual event before.
