MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - “The Square,” formerly called “The Avenue,” was a mixed-use project approved by the Township Board earlier this year. Now, the developer of the project has withdrawn their application.

Campus Village Communities proposed the project earlier this year, which is a mixed use development with apartments and retail space aimed at students. The company will be going back to the drawing board to make some budget tweaks, but is still committed to the project.

The location of the development is just west of the Salvation Army off of Grand River Avenue, and the developers hope to bring another proposal to the table in 2016, eyeing a construction start in 2017.
