MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - A lot of the new businesses are at different parts of their development, but there are some ready to open.

Omaha-based department store Gordman's is set to open on July 15th according to Peter Menser, Meridian Township's Associate Planner.

"They are in the process of finalizing the interior, which means shelving, merchandise and all that fun stuff," said Menser.

Some properties are looking for a new start. Two years ago Paul Revere's Tavern was closed and was purchased by O'Reillys auto parts. The bar will be demolished and there will be an O'Reilly's on the property, but there is no timetable on the start of that project.

If you live on Hamilton Road be prepared for construction as Jerry Fedewa Homes Inc. plans to build up to six condominium units this summer. You may recognize this property as the old Erickson Learning Center.

Whole Foods on Grand River Avenue is still on schedule to open in early 2016. Shortly after that an Aldi's supermarket is expected to open in spring of 2016 on Marsh Road.

According to Menser there have 13 new businesses added to Meridian in the past four months.

"It's an overall boost to our economy, it's a multi-faceted impact," said Menser.
