Increase in School Budget Expected for
Next Year

HASLETT - It is that time of the year, when schools sit down and determine next year's budgets.

School districts are expecting an increase in school budgets, following Michigan Governor Rick Snyder's proposed budget for the State of Michigan. Governor Snyder is proposing an increase for the funding of K-12 education.

His proposed budget calls for nearly $75 per student. Haslett Public Schools Director of Finance, Steve Cook, explained how this affects the school district.

"Well the governor signed the school aid bill," said Cook. "Which essentially varies for each school district but we're looking at a budget of $41 per student. Which is an increase over prior years."
