UPDATE: DEWITT & EAST LANSING - At Dewitt High School the Panthers rushed the field to get game one of the playoffs rolling against their rival the Haslett Vikings. After a slow start, Dewitt quarterback Ryan Wieber hands the ball to senior running back Brian Moore who scores the first touchdown of the night. Haslett responded throughout the game scoring a total of two touchdowns, but couldn't prevail past the Panthers Wing-T offense and solid defense. At another Division 3 game just down the road at East Lansing High School, the atmosphere was fierce. Going into the half, East Lansing was up 21-14 and had no intentions of backing down. In the third, Trojan quarterback Alex Carlson hands off to Elijah Hamilton-Wray for a 20-yard touchdown. Trojans up 28-14. St. Johns wastes no time getting back on the board and Andrew Mullikin dives into the end zone, cutting the Trojans lead and the Redwings are only down by 7. With 2:31 remaining in the third, J.R. Lara bursts past St. Johns defenders for the second straight time in the quarter and scores from 20-yards out. Putting the Trojans up 42-21 heading into the fourth. The Redwings kept the ball on the ground and Mason Sauls runs it in with 9 minutes left in the game and again with 3:10, narrowing the gap 42-35. 2:19 left to play in the game and Carlson hands it to Mr. Speedy, aka Elijah Hamilton-Wray who explodes to the end zone on an 85-yard scoring sprint. Trojans up 49-35. St. John's wasn't done yet, with 1:13 left Brad Cordes connects with Mason Sauls for an 11-yard touchdown catch that put the score at the final 49-42.
