Rezoning Requests for Eyde Properties Approved at Township Board Meeting

Rezoning Requests for Eyde Properties
Approved at Township Board Meeting

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - George F. Eyde Family requested a rezoning of eight point six acres from professional office (PO) and residential to commercial (C2). The area is located north of Grand River and east of Central Park Drive.

This rezoning was up for action at the May 19th Township Board meeting.

Township Clerk, Brett Dreyfus argued that the issue should be voted on in three separate parcels, rather than just one that included all eight acres.

"The two parcels on Grand River could be voted on as one unit - it doesn't make sense based on how we do zoning that we just simply lump them all together just because it's one property owner and it is near each other," said Dreyfus.

The Planning Commission recommended the rezoning to the Township Board back in March.

Although Treasurer Julie Brixie and Brett Dreyfus did not support the rezoning, the vote passed 5-2.
