Township Board Adopts Changes to Vendor Ordinance

Township Board Adopts Changes to Vendor
Ordinance

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Township Board approved amendments to the Meridian Township Vendor Ordinance on Tuesday, May 19th.

Vendors will now only be allowed to go door-to-door from 9am-8pm April 1-October 31, and from 9am-6pm November 1-March 31. The changes also prohibit vendors from advertising their goods or services in a way that disturbs the peace.

Trustee Angela Wilson said this ordinance was something residents were concerned with.

"It does become a problem when vendors knock on doors in the evening hours to sell goods or services," Wilson said. "People want some down time, some quiet time, and they don't want to worry about who's coming to their door."

Meridian Township defines vending as offering goods or services from a temporary structure or shelter, not within a building, or going door-to-door. The Township Board approved the amendments, 6-1.
