MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Saturday April 18th, the Meridian Township Fire Department was on stand by for a controlled fire in the Delta Dental parking lot.

“What we’re doing here today is standing by while a company called Wild Type Incorporated does a prescribed burn on some bioswales here in the delta dental parking lot," said Meridian Township Fire Inspector Tavis Millerov.

The main concern of the burn was to protect the trees, which were sprayed down with water to protect them from the flames. Burns such as this happen every once and a while and the Fire Department is required to attend just in case anything goes wrong.
