Progress is Being Made on New Central
Fire Station Construction

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Construction on the corner of Okemos Road and Central Park Drive on the new Central Fire Station in Meridian Township is underway and is planned to continue through the rest of the year.

"We have broken ground, things are moving forward. We have the trees and the shrubs and the brush that needed to be cleared - tree stumps and that's all done, the debris has been hauled off site. We've been moving topsoil and starting all of our dirt work for building the pad prep," said David Todd, Construction Manager at Wieland-Davco Corporation.

Approximately 58 trees have been fenced off and will be saved in the construction zone and 18 new trees will be planted in the landscape of the building.

Within the next month infrastructure will begin to go up and the parking lot will be laid down. Wieland-Davco Corporation has enjoyed working hand-in-hand with the Township and is eager to see the completed station.

The project has high expectations and is scheduled for completion in December of this year.
