Okemos 5th Grade Girls Basketball Talks About Undefeated Season, Life Off the Court

OKEMOS - It's pretty impressive for a basketball team to finish the season undefeated and win the league tournament.

It's even more impressive when that team is comprised entirely of fifth graders.

The Okemos 5th grade girls basketball team finished 7-0 in the Red Cedar Hoops League regular season and were also league tournament champions.

I had the chance to sit down with Okemos coach Doug Hartman and two of his players, Bethany Hartman and Hailey Henion, to talk about the team's chemistry on and and off the court.

See the interview below.

Also of note:

The Okemos 5th grade boys team had their second consecutive undefeated season in the Red Cedar Hoops League in 2015.

The boys team also won several tournaments, including one in Battle Creek where they played at the sixth grade level.

"What they’ve accomplished they really have earned," said Head Coach Patrick Brillantes.
