LANSING - The Media Shootout hosted by the Ingham County Sheriff's Department is an event that has been going on for years and is meant to give the media a glimpse at what it's like to be put in a possible violent situation where an officer may have to use their gun.

The purpose of the event was to let media know the stresses of a police officer during these altercations. Although the event isn't new, it has become more purposeful based on today's current events and the conversations in the media.
