"The Avenue" Project Concept Plan Before Township Board

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On March 3, the Township Board will hear a new concept plan for a development along Grand River Avenue.

The project, called "The Avenue," was presented to the Township Board at their meeting on Feb. 23, and is currently only in the concept phase.

"Right now they're doing a concept plan," said Meridian Township Director of Community Planning and Development Mark Kieselbach said. "That part of the mixed use plan of development of our ordinance allows for developers to come in and show both the Planning Commission and Township Board a concept plan. What the idea is, what their design looks like."

The mixed use development plan proposes to construct 219 apartment units and will also include the existing Meridian Pointe Shopping Center, which currently consists of Foods for Living and Salvation Army.

Another project nearby, the construction of Whole Foods is moving along.

On Thursday, March 12th at 3pm a public hearing will be held to modify the approved plans to allow for an approximate 3,275 square foot addition to the Whole Foods building.
