Change in Polling Location Leaves Some
Voters Upset

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the Feb. 17 Township Board meeting, treasurer Julie Brixie moved to approve a change in polling location.

The previous location on South Hagadorn Road was too small to accommodate voters and is being moved to a church on Bennett Road.

But as the motion was passed, not everyone seemed to agree that is was the best decision, especially those thinking of voters that don't have access to mobile transportation.

"It changes from something they could walk to easily to something where they're either going to need a bicycle or use a car and I'm concerned about those students who didn't have cars I wanted to be sure they could get to the polls," said John Veenstra, Meridian Township Trustee.
