MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Michigan Department of Education recently released the results of this past winter's ACT tests taken by high school students throughout Michigan.

Across the state the results were mixed, however Okemos reported strong scores landing in the top ten in Michigan.

According to the report 51% of Okemos students scored proficient or better in all subjects with an average score of 24.8.

"The high results that we get are is a combination of motivated students who work hard and do well in school, are focused on education, their families who support them in that effort and then also a really talented staff," said Catherine Ash, Okemos Public Schools Superintendent.

Haslett High School did not post as high of scores but did beat the statewide composite average of 19.8 by posting a mean score of 22.2.

Overall the statewide percentage of college ready students did declined from 18.1 percent to 17.8 percent.

However, it is important to remember that these results came from high school juniors who still have a year of schooling left before heading off to college.
