Celebrate National Night Out

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township Police Department invites you to participate in National Night Out on August 5th from 6-9pm.

National Night Out is a celebration across America. More than 37 million people and 16,124 communities are turning on their porch lights to demonstrate unity.

It's an opportunity for neighborhoods to participate in crime prevention efforts and form a strong partnership with their community police officer.

Anyone can plan a special event for their neighborhood. McGruff and the K-9 unit will visit your neighborhood, with motorcycles and cars to help unite your community. Residents are encouraged to host a rally, block party, ice cream social, barbecue or evening walk. National Night out is dedicated to the development and promotion of crime prevention programs. Safer neighborhoods begin with community involvement. Help celebrate 31 years of National Night Out!

If you are interested in hosting an event, contact your community police officer at 516-853-4800 or contact Lt. Ken Plaga at plaga@meridian.mi.us.
