Pothole Season in Full Swing

Pothole Season in Full Swing

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - It's been a historically cold and snowy winter in Meridian Township, and as a result, we are also seeing an extreme amounts of potholes.

The high amounts of moisture and brutally cold temperatures have been the primary cause of the potholes.

Both the Ingham County Road Department and the Michigan Department of Transportation have been working tirelessly to repair potholes.

Bill Conklin, Managing Director of the Ingham Country Road Department, says the pothole season is only just beginning.

"Well were going to have a more severe pothole season this year because we have had a lot of moisture early in the winter and we've had a lot of cold, cold weather which has driven frost deep into the ground underneath our roads," said Conklin.

Both Road Departments have been pushing their budgets this winter season due to the high amount of potholes. They have already used over half their budget for the season and have since requested additional funds from the State.
