Storm Data

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - A Consumers Energy representative recently spoke to the Meridian Township Board about the record setting winter.

The December 2013 ice storm that hit Michigan caused one of the worst power outages Consumers Energy has dealt with in their 120+ year history.

"We replaced 635,000 feet of wire in one week," said Chris Thelan, an area representative for Consumers Energy.

Board members and Consumers Energy plan to have a more proactive tree trimming program set in the future to speed up the restoration process.

The Lansing Board of Water and Light also submitted a packet regarding their response in the 2013 ice storm for the board that is currently under review.
