Local Road Budgets Taking a Toll

Local Road Budgets Taking a Toll

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - With all of the severe winter storms this year, there is concern about the Ingham County Road Department budget running thin.

At its current rate, the budget should be okay, however according to Managing Director, Bill Conklin, "If the weather continues the way it did in the month of January, we'd be using our winter maintenance budget way ahead of schedule and possibly impacting our surface maitenance budget which we use in the summertime." January usually takes up 20 to 30% of the budget, but this year it has taken more than half.

Lack of a surface maintenance budget would make things challenging this year due to a high number of expected potholes.

For any questions or to report a pothole, you can contact the department at 517-696-9722.
