MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Economic development is at the forefront of the townships initiatives in 2014. With new businesses such as H&M and Whole Foods coming to the greater Lansing area the economic forecast looks bright and sunny.

"I think both H&M and whole foods are going to be trans-formative projects," said Peter Menser, Associate Planner for Meridian Township.

"I think what were going to see is both of those businesses are going to flourish and then the second wave of people are gonna build on the momentum."

As H+M and Whole foods begin to make their mark in the community that also means new jobs will arise. To get the scoop on the job market here in Lansing I spoke to Capital Area Michigan Works CEO Edythe Hatter-WIlliams.

"The job market in the Lansing Metropolitan area actually looks good," she stated.

"We have the lowest unemployment rate of other urban areas."

As we slowly move into spring many jobs will begin to open up for the summer months. CEO Hatter-Williams also had advice for individuals seeking employment.

"When your looking for a job you need to see what the employer is looking for and if your skill level lines up for whats required of the job."
