MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - During the winter months when lots of snow starts to accumulate on the ground, it is very likely that it could cover fire hydrants and make it difficult for Firefighters to access in case of an emergency.

Meridian Fire Department suggests the best way to help is to clear a path to fire hydrants from the road and remove snow from all sides so it is visible from the road, and easily accessible to connect a fire hose to it.

Blocked fire hydrants can cause slower responses to put out fires and can lead to catastrophic consequences. Please keep an eye out for fire hydrants near your homes and businesses to help keep them clear.
