Red Cedar Glen Land Preservation
Project is Completed

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - For the past 2-3 years, the restoration of the Red Cedar Glen Land Preserve has been focusing on the ongoing issue of runoff water.

There was land erosion near the train tracks on Sylvan Road, and this caused a lot of sediment to be poured into the Red Cedar River causing flooding and endangering the habitat of the aquatic life.

The Ingham County Drain Commissioner worked with Meridian Township Parks and Land Management Coordinator Jane Greenway to solve the problem with a scientific solution. They used BioEngineering methods of using logs and stones to hold the soil in place and slow down the water, therefore creating beautiful pools that the wildlife can enjoy.

The Red Cedar Glen is considered one of the nicest preserves in the system, and it stretches from the end of Sylvan Road to Legg Park.
