Both Michiganders and visitors take advantage of the state’s sun, freshwater, coastline, making it unique Michigan experience. Michigan is home to 98 states parks and recreation areas, as well as 133 state forest campgrounds.

“I think we can sum up in three words: woods and water. We have so much here in state of Michigan; there have many miles of beach available, many campgrounds are built on these lakes. There are just lots of chances for families, people are in creative vacation and affordable vacation across state of Michigan. By doing that, they are able to bond together, to get away from some televisions and computers, to get around and sat around the campfire. Many people enjoy that,” said Bill Sheffer, MARVACT Director.

This camping month supports the economic and contributes to Michigan’s overall tourism. All state lands are managed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, while the national parks and lake-shores are managed by the National Park Service.
