New Salvation Army Opens in Meridian
Township

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - A new Salvation Army is calling Meridian Township home.

The ribbon was cut Friday morning officially marking the store's grand opening. Meridian Township board members, local government officials and the store's first batch of customers were all present at the ribbon cutting. This particular Salvation Army aims to serve the community by helping homeless people with addictions.

"We serve hundreds of homeless men with addictions and other issues for a six-month period of time, and it helps them get back on their feet, helps them get the educations that they need, they counseling that they need," said Salvation Army Administrator Michael Thomas.

Thomas said Meridian Township was chosen to house the new Salvation Army because of its demographics and its reputation as a giving community. The store can be found at 2654 Grand River Ave.
