Meridian Township Given Two Options
for Cornell Road Improvements

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Planning Commission discussed two options for Cornell Road improvements at their last meeting.

The first option would include putting three foot shoulders on the road and adding guard rails. The other option would include about one foot of paved shoulder and one foot of gravel shoulder. Both options will require fewer trees to be removed than the original plan for Cornell Road improvements.

"Both options...the original amount of tree removal proposed by the consultant has been reduced to about a dozen dead trees and about a dozen smaller live trees," said Ingham County Department of Transportation and Roads Manager Bill Conklin.

The Township Board will decide which of the two improvements will be made to Cornell Road. The public hearings on Cornell Road will be held open until the commission's next meeting.
