Moving Out: Housing Sales in Meridian
Township

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - "I’ve got to preface things by telling you this comes out it’s a happy story, because we’re back in the good times again," said president of Coldwell Banker Hubbell BriarWood, Bill MacLeod.

Trying to sell a house at a reasonable price has been a struggle for some time now, but the statistics from 2006 to 20011 that weren't so promising are looking better

"The average home in the Lansing area lost 40% of it’s value over that five year period of time and it’s going to be a long time before we make that 40% up, but we made up about 8% last year and we’re making up about 8% this year so we’re clearly heading in the right direction," said MacLeod.

For some sellers like Steve Letavish, experiencing the market first hand was bittersweet.

"Well you know, based on my experience, the market here was great, selling that quick I couldn’t have been happier, or maybe I could have been happier if it took more time because, you know, we’re not really prepared to move out as quickly as we are," said Letavish.

In less than two months from when his house went up for sale, it's sold and he's moving on out, and Steve says if you're looking to go into the market, "As far as buying goes, do it, it’s fun, you know, it’s fun looking at homes, it’s great to see what works and what doesn’t. when you’re selling your own home, spend the time on it, fix it up, clean it up, make it look like a million bucks, and you’ll get that million bucks for it."

"Everything looks very positive in meridian township, very positive right now," said MacLeod.
