Meridian Township Board Creates Unique Expansion Plan for Cornell Road

Meridian Township Board Creates
Unique Expansion Plan for Cornell
Road

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township board members continue to discuss the expansion of Cornell Road. While road expansion may make it safer to drive on, it will require some deforestation. The board said its goal is to preserve as many trees as possible while expanding the road. It developed a road design different from the standard county design. Meridian Township Treasurer, Julie Brixie was pleased with the board's environmental consideration.

"Certain trees are less important. We tried really hard to save all of the oaks, because they're the most majestic trees out there and I think we really did a great job with that..with the design that's before us," said Julie Brixie, Township Treasurer.

The unique design was made possible becuase the road construction is being paid for with money from the street millage rather than county funds.
