The Golden Pastor

The Golden Pastor

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - "She's probably one of the greatest people you will ever meet. She's loving, caring, and you can pretty much tell her anything and feel safe," said Mykaala Cage-Pork, when describing her grandmother Belynda Cage.

Belynda is a mother, a grandmother, a special ed assistance, and a pastor. She describes herself as a optimist and a fighter. "I'm a fighter and I fight to win," said Pastor Cage.

Fight is exactly what Pastor Cage had to do when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. "My doctor told me, I hate to be the one Belynda to deliver the bad news, but you have been diagnosed with breast cancer," said Pastor Cage.

Pastor Cage's family, friends and congregation were stunned by her perseverance and grace through her battle with cancer. "I told them I'm not going to die. I have too much to do," said Pastor Cage.

Belynda even stunned her doctors when she walked in for treatment with her high-heels on, "The doctor told me, she said Belynda the day you come in her not wearing those high-heels and wearing flip-flops we know you are really sick and I said you probably won't see that day," said Belynda.

According to Belynda, she would have chemotherapy on Thursdays and on Sunday morning she would be preaching on the platform of her church.

Pastor Cage wanted to be an example to those around her. "I was their example and that is what I wanted. I wanted them to see that, I do not care what comes your way, no matter how hard it may be, you can do this," said Pastor Belynda.

Pastor Belynda became a spokesperson for breast cancer and ultimately defeated the deadly disease. "I'm in a new norm, I'm not the same. I will never ever be the same...I'm better," said Pastor Cage.
