Conservancy District Amendment

Conservancy District Amendment

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Federal Emergency Management Agency has notified the township that a new Flood Insurance Rate Map and a new Flood Insurance Study is now available. Meridian Township has been working on the conservancy district amendment since the end of May. At the recent Township Board meeting the new amendment was adopted.

The purpose of conservancy district is to protect the natural environment, residents, and economic resources by application of special regulations.

Mark Kieselbach, the Director of Community Planing and Development said, “by participating, those people want to require flood insurance, or sometimes they can’t get a bank loan or mortgage for the house that they don’t have flood insurance. That provides them an opportunity to have a lower rate.”
