Fatal Fire Leads to Discussion of Waterline

Fatal Fire Leads to Discussion of
Waterline

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Township Board is discussing the extension of a waterline following a fatal mobile home fire in Winslow Park.

The fire happened last month, killing an elderly woman.

The nearest fire hydrant to the mobile home park was over a mile away, and some board members said extending a waterline to the area so more fire hydrants can be installed would be beneficial.

"It would be safer for public safety,” John Veenstra, Board Trustee, said. “I think it's important to have a hydrant in that area to provide fire protection to the mobile home park."

The board will continue to discuss what to do about the lack of water around the homes at their next meeting on April 16.
