Central Fire Station Architect Chosen

Central Fire Station Architect Chosen

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The current Central Fire Station has been in use for more than 50 years and is beyond repair.

After receiving six proposals from firms interested in taking on the project, the board decided on DLZ, a firm out of Lansing.

It was important that the firm chosen had experience building fire stations.

"They've done several fire stations over the last few years and the project team that is going to be working in Meridian Township is the same project team that built one down in Indiana that just had its grand opening in January of this year, Ray Severy, Director of Public Works and Engineering explained."

DLZ will meet with the township and fire department to determine what the new fire station will house and how it will function.

They will present two layout options, and then construction will begin.

The project has an estimated completion date of late 2014.
