Township Manager Replacement Process Begins

Township Manager Replacement Process
Begins

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the December 11, 2012 Township Board meeting, the Board approved the Michigan Municipal League Proposal for Executive Search Services 7-0.

ORIGINAL STORY: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Township Manager Jerry Richards recently resigned, making May 3rd his last day. A new Manager will be selected by the Township Board. The hiring process is expected to take twelve to sixteen weeks.

On the December 4th Board meeting, members discussed using an executive recruitment firm to help with the screening process. It is expected that this topic will be discussed at the next several meetings. Many Board members are attracted to the idea of combining forces with the Michigan Municipal League.

Professional parameters and criteria for the position will play a large role in selecting a new Manager. Discussion about creating a committee to aid in the process occurred at the last meeting, but the idea was not favored by all members and was not voted upon.

The new Manager will most likely begin work the first or second week of May 2013.
