Marble Elementary Celebrates Success

UPDATE: EAST LANSING - As students filed into the gym Friday afternoon they were met with an exciting visitor.

The students were rewarded with a visit from Sparty during a celebration assembly after raising $14,000 dollars in their fall fundraiser.

And this was the first year they have done this type of fundraiser which required students to ask for pledges to support them in a fun run brought on by the Get Movin Crew.

Jodi Spicer, PTO President for Marble Elementary said about the fun run, "Completely exceeded my expectations. It was the most fun, least amount of work fundraisers that we have ever had that raised the most amount of money. I mean we couldn't have asked for anything better."

Marble's goal was to raise $10,000 dollars which they exceeded by $4,000.

Ruth Riddle, Principal of Marble Elementary said, "These students when they get together they do amazing things, whether its in the classroom or through music or art. If you look at the artwork it's amazing. So I knew if I could do something to get them excited they would."

And to reward them the students who brought in the most money had the privilege of drizzling ice cream, chocolate syrup, and other sundae toppings all over Principal Riddle.

"I thought it was going to be super freezing but it was actually pretty therapeutic except for there were a lot of people watching," said Riddle.

Marlbe plans to use some of the money for a resource reading room and will have a meeting to discuss where the rest of the money will go.

The Get Movin Crew has raised $150,000 dollars for Lansing schools this year.
