UPDATE: EAST LANSING, MI - With more than 400 events to attend nationwide each year, Sparty can't do it all by himself. Thanks to his directors and team of student escorts who make sure he's always where he needs to be, Sparty has become one of the most iconic and well-known mascots in the country.

"Everyone has a tie to Sparty, and he's just such a great representation and symbol for a university," said Ty Richards, associate director of the Sparty Mascot Program.

"So that's why I think he has become so big and people just love him. He's a lovable character."

Dan DiMaggio, the associate director of the MSU Alumni Foundation said being part of the Sparty program isn't just a job, it's a lifestyle that requires one to bleed green and white.

"Over the course of the years everything that is Sparty becomes second nature," said DiMaggio. "You think like him, as odd as that may sound, but it really grows on you and in you."
