Ember Oaks Wetland Use Permit

Ember Oaks Wetland Use Permit

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - SP Investments recently applied for a wetland use permit to help resolve an erosion issue in the Ember Oaks Subdivision.

The three phases of the Ember Oaks subdivision were completed in 2011. But after completing Phases 1 and 2, storm water began to flow north under the CSX Railroad tracks and through the Red Cedar Glen Land Preservation Property, causing significant erosion.

"They are proposing a temporary solution until a more permanent solution can be done," said Associate Planner Rick Brown.

Brown went on to explain that the temporary solution is to create a retention area for storm water that enters into the subdivision. This area will be about a third of an acre in size.

According to the Wetland Protection Ordinance, there are certain criteria that must be met for a wetland use permit to be granted. Based on the 90 day review period, the deadline for a decision is October 8th, and a resolution is expected to be on the agenda at the October 2nd board meeting.
