UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township's Historical Village a flash back in time this weekend. To the 1700s to be exact.

It was a weekend for current residents to take a step back and learn what life was life for the first residents in the township.

"I really enjoy doing this and doing a part in teaching the children the history that we have now-a-days. I don't believe that children are getting the history that they should be in the schools." said one reenactor.

But this weekend wasn't only a history lesson...

"This is a place where we come and celebrate our heritages as Michigan residents. It's not just the farm house and farming, but the native american displays over there." said another reenactor.

There was dancing, cooking and even weaving going on at this weekend's event. Everyone had a different aspect of the history to share.

"All the kids I've seen here today are just having a good time and it's a way for people to get together." said a reenactor.
