Car Break-Ins

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On June 20th The Michigan Athletic Club experienced a robbery that took place in their parking lot. An incident that can be prevented if precautionary measures are taken.

The suspect was caught on surveillance cameras around 5pm on the night of the incident. He has been described as a white male, 18 to 25 years old, about six feet tall and 190 pounds. A license plate number was not in view, but he was seen driving away in a silver Dodge Caliber. While these types of incidents are tough to patrol, there are some cautionary steps residents can take to prevent being a victim of these types of crimes.

"We encourage people to hide valuables in the trunks of their vehicle or take them inside, certainly if you live in an apartment complex. It's very hard for us to patrol those effectively and prevent this kind of thing from happening. So take your valuables inside if you can." - Meridian Township Police Lieutenant, Greg Frenger

Residents should always remember to lock their doors and keep belongings out of view. Vehicles with items in site are major targets for break in.
