Anniversary of Michigan Bans

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Lawmakers put into place in May of 2010 a smoking banned stating that all restaurants/bars/casino's would become smoke free. So how has the smoking ban effected local restaurants?

Michigan lawmakers also put into affect NO-TEXTING WHEN DRIVING.
Making it illegal to send text messages while operating a vehicle in the state of Michigan. Many argue that it is hard to prove that they where texting and driving. Law Enforcement officer say the same thing, its hard to prove that someone was texting and not just making a phone call.

Meridian Township Police in the last year stated that they have only written eight tickets in regards to texting and driving. Ingham County Sheriff department declined to release how many tickets there officers had given out.


ORIGINAL STORY: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The state of Michigan placed several bans in 2010. Those bans include: No-texting when driving and NO smoking in bars or restaurants. An indoor tanning tax was also implemented last year.
