Sharing the Road

Sharing the Road

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - According to Tim Potter, the Manager of MSU Bikes Service Center, the way a biker should ride is called vehicular cycling, or riding on the road as another vehicle of the road.

Potter says that it takes a lot of confidence and guts. You also need to make sure to stand out. Wear bright colors and use bright lights in the dark in order to be seen.

"It makes us really nervous when motorists pass us so close because if we swerved a little bit, or crashed then we would be run over. So when we say share the road or the concept is out there it's like you wouldn't pass another car within a couple of feet, you would give more room to even another car," said Potter.

Bicyclists appreciate when they are given enough room when passed. Tim says to practice safer bicycling and then hopefully you don't become a statistic.
