Summer Lunch Program

Summer Lunch Program

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Snell Tower Recreation Center not only is a place for kids to play outside during summer days, it also provides them with free lunches.

The summer lunch program is funded through a state and federal grant. Lansing city schools are the sponsor and provide all the food. Each day parks and recreation orders around 20-30 meals.

"Today was yogurt, fruit, a vegetable, milk and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. There is always a fruit and a vegetable or two fruits or two vegetables, it kind of varies making it a balanced meal," said Park and Recreation Specialist Greg Grothous.

You do not have to be a part of the program to get a lunch, any kid is welcome to come just to eat a meal. Lunch is served 12:00 p.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
