Harris Nature Center Soars

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Harris Nature Center Soars event took place on Saturday June 9th to introduce the new river overlook and the red tailed hawk exhibit.

Park naturalist Kati Adams said, "When the Harris Nature Center Foundation was created, they were looking for a good project. Something that we needed and one of the main things that always comes up for a need at the nature center is more classroom space."

The day of the celebration started off with a birds of prey presentation. Sarah Gilmore, a raptor educator, from the Leslie Science & Nature Center in Ann Arbor shared bird knowledge with the community.

Then after the birds of prey presentation, the river overlook dedication took place where people that helped with the project were thanked.

The Harris Nature Center has already seen families come to sit outside and eat lunch on the river overlook. They expect weddings to take place on the deck in the future.

The Harris Nature Center is located on Van Atta Road. The park is open to the public free of charge from dawn until dusk.
