UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - "Gellocake - that's the name of my business," said Lillian Chavira, owner of the home-run bakery on Seneca Drive in Okemos.

"It's a home-based, licensed bakery. I have been in business for almost four years now, and it has been a really exciting adventure," she said.

"One of my main goals was to be able to sell my cakes in a specialty store. Before having my own store, I wanted to take a little step. Last month, I delivered my first cakes to Mert's specialty store here in Okemos, so now I'm taking my cakes there almost every day and they are selling wonderfully, and it has been really exciting." she said.

"I make all kinds of sweets. Lately, I have been trying to introduce a menu for all kinds of allergies and health and diet restrictions. Now I have a gluten-free menu, I have treats that are perfect for diabetics, and for people who are, you know, lactose intolerant," she said.

"I'm just so blessed to be able to own my own business and to be at the right place at the right time doing what I love, following my passion, and being witness to how people around me are enjoying my dreams. My 'sweet dreams' are becoming a reality, so it's very fun and it's very cool. I love doing it, and I think I will continue to do it until the last day of my life," she said.
