Van Atta Road Bridge

Van Atta Road Bridge

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Ingham County Road Commission will be building a new bridge that would support two lanes and possibly bike paths.

Construction may start as early as September and could cause trouble for the Harris Nature Center.

One Naturalist explains why she likes the current one lane bridge: "The fact that it's a one lane bridge slows everybody down and you know, maybe they get a chance to notice how beautiful it is, where if they were driving really fast, they might not even notice," said Kit Rich, Senior Naturalist at the Harris Nature Center.

The current speed for the bridge is 35 mph and it will be decided whether or not the speed will go back up to 45 mph once the new bridge is complete.

ORIGINAL STORY: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The one lane bridge on Van Atta Road will soon be completely reconstructed.
