Betty's Posters

Betty's Posters

UPDATE: OKEMOS - The Okemos Friends of the Library recognize a local artist.

"I graduated from MSU in 1938, and I got my degree in art education. I immediately started teaching art," said Hagberg.

Betty Hagberg taught art for over 30 years.

Hagberg said, "I loved teaching as much when I stopped as when I started."

Betty retired and moved to Okemos in 1975.

"And of course I immediately joined the library. And because there are many occasions in the library when they are having some sort of a festive doing, they like to advertise it. I offered to do a poster," said Hagberg.

And Betty has been making posters ever since.

"You can almost read a small history of Okemos as it develops through the years just by looking at the old posters," Hagberg says.

The Okemos Library held a poster retrospective for Betty's 96th birthday and over 45 friends came to celebrate.
.
"I was amazed, put it that way. Amazed and delighted," said Hagberg.

Over 80 of Betty's posters are being displayed at the library from April 13th to April 30th.

As of now, Betty is taking a break from making posters due to an injury but hopes to start back up again soon.
