Sparrow Replacing Hershey's

Sparrow Replacing Hershey's

UPDATE: OKEMOS - After 23 years, Hershey's Restaurant in Okemos has closed its doors, but there are already plans in the making for the building site's future.

Sparrow Health Systems has bought the site, and has started the process to begin developing the site for a new urgent care facility. Sparrow already has two urgent care buildings in Okemos and in Mason. They have submitted for site plan review, a thirty day process in which the township assesses whether the site meets requirements for a healthcare facility.

If the building meets all the requirements, the next step will be to apply for a building permit.

Sparrow plans to tear down the restaurant and rebuild from scratch. If all goes as plan, they will be able to begin construction in late spring.
