Meridian Fire Department Conducts Training at Haslett Village Square

HASLETT, MI - On May 19, the Meridian Township Fire Department conducted numerous training scenarios at the abandoned buildings of Haslett Village Square. A redevelopment proposal for Haslett Village Square is currently under review, but until that project moves forward, the buildings will be available for the Fire Department to use.

TJ Booms, EMS/Training Chief for Meridian Township, was on the scene to lead the training, “The training we did today was some basic fire training for all of our crews. It involved advancing some hoseline, forcible entry, building construction. We got some of our officers rotated through into command positions to practice running some of the scenes we would be operating at.”

The Fire Department spent all week training within the various buildings, and is hoping to include neighboring agencies in future trainings for however long they have access to the buildings.
