MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On December 18, the Meridian Township Police Department got together to make a select group of children's Christmas dreams come true with their annual Shop With A Cop event. With the help of charitable donations, officers took a group of 9 children on a shopping trip to the Walmart located in Meridian Township to allow the kids to buy themselves and their family Christmas presents.

Escorted to the store in a fleet of police cruisers, the children were allowed to pick out anything they wanted, each being allotted an approximate $100 budget.

After shopping, the kids and officers went back to the Police Department for a pizza party, crafts and gift wrapping.

These children were able to have what most would describe as the best Christmas of their lives, and the officers were happy to help them and give even more to the community then they already do.

This event was possible due to donations made by Walmart, the Haslett-Okemos Rotary, and Jet's Pizza - Haslett.
